seasons

summer comes, spring leaves
but it will return.
the heat comes, the spring breeze leaves
but it will return.

fall comes, summer leaves
but it will return.
colors come, the heat leaves
but it will return.

winter comes, fall leaves
but it will return.
snow comes, the grass dies
but it will return.

spring comes winter leaves
but it will return.
flowers come, snow leaves
but it will return.

new friends come, old ones leave
but they will not return.
new dreams come, old ones leave
but they will never return.

  1. I was surprised by the last stanza--because you had set up the "it will return" comforting refrain, it made the loss of friends and dreams that much more poignant and painful. Thanks for sharing. I will certainly come to this post weekly!

  2. That's great that you are writing poetry Becky, thanks for sharing!
I can't read the middle part of the poem though, it appears to be in some kind of a code font.
    Keep up the good work.

  5. I guess my computer would not read the wingdings font, but I copied your poem and then translated it into a new font, so now I can read it. Great work Bex!
